Rule Solutions for Office

Ease collaboration between business users and IT. The ILOG Rules for .NET Rule Solutions for Office module is a set of plug-ins integrated into Microsoft Office 2007. Business users edit and manage business rules in a familiar environment. Guided by syntax and vocabulary suggestions and assisted by error correction options, business users can quickly and easily create and maintain business rules and decision tables.

Collaborate more effectively
The ILOG Rule Solutions for Office module allows non-technical business users to edit decision tables and business rules in a familiar environment. Users have full flexibility to modify existing decision tables and to create or edit business rules. Developers can easily integrate the changes made by non-technical business users into their ILOG Rule Studio projects, and republish documents for additional rule maintenance, without losing any additional content added at a later date to complement the rules.

Integrate with Microsoft Office 2007
ILOG Rule Solutions for Office takes advantage of the latest Microsoft Office technology, providing a rich editing experience while making non-technical business users feel at home with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel. Add items to the rule gallery to make new rule creation easy and error-free.

Edit business rules in Microsoft Word
Non-technical business users work with rules in a natural way with Microsoft Word. Include additional contextual information in RuleDocs, view and edit rules and rule properties, and easily create new rules with "copy" and "paste" and the rule gallery. Guidance is available to help avoid errors, and assistance is provided to help correct any errors that might occur.

Edit decision tables in Microsoft Excel
Non-technical business users have the most intuitive editor for decision tables with Microsoft Excel. Edit the values, structure and properties of tables, as well as the structure and the properties about the table. Gaps and overlaps are easily identified so the table can be completely and accurately filled in.

Easily fix errors
Assistance is provided for rule writing, in the case of a syntax error or a mistyped word. Warnings for gaps or overlaps in decision tables are recorded in the "problem list," and they are signified directly in the decision table.

Manage RuleDocs in ILOG Rule Team Server for SharePoint
Non-technical business users share RuleDocs for collaboration with other rule authors when using Rule Team Server for SharePoint. They maintain versions of RuleDocs to ensure the history of rule and decision table changes are recorded. ILOG Rule Team Server for SharePoint also manages permissions on RuleDocs, so only authorized business users can update rules and decision tables.
